Civic Experience:

  • Actively volunteering with the bi-partisan One Love, One Belmont Event.

  • Active volunteer with the Council on Aging 2020-present

  • Current member of an advisory vetting group that provides feedback to the selection committee with regard to the new Belmont Public Schools superintendent.

  • Part of a working group that meets as needed with Belmont High School staff and local business members to connect high school students to local small businesses for job opportunities.

Even prior to living in Belmont, the community has always been a valued part of my life as I have multi generation family ties to the town.

     ANTONIO 4 PRECINCT 6

Serving as a Precinct 6 Town Meeting Member would be both a privilege and a complementary continuation of my work to serve the residents of Belmont. The focus points of my campaign are youth, energy, and commitment. I will provide the residents of Precinct 6 my full attention and make myself available for any precinct related civic dialogue and problem resolution.

My Commitment

It has been and continues to be my intention to assist the residents of this community. Connecting with residents will be key and so I am proposing a quarterly in person (with a zoom option) meeting to meet directly with residents who have concerns. Additionally, residents can contact me directly anytime to seek assistance with researching town resources, etc. by email or phone.

More specifically, I would seek to increase Belmont High School student participation with the Council on Aging.  One way to do this is to expand the program in which young students can help senior citizens for community service hours which are necessary for graduation.

As a 4 year long volunteer with this program, I have personally seen its success and the positive impact it has made in the lives of local seniors. Just a few hours of assistance a week can be life-changing for both students and seniors.

Priorities will also include: encouraging increased turnout at municipal elections, as well as stronger engagement in municipal government such as, increased community participation on town boards, and commissions.

Starting the Conversation...

Transparency: My driving priorities are delivering constituent outreach and addressing the concerns of senior citizens. If elected, I intend to be a voice for all Precinct 6 residents and to hear their concerns through both traditional and non-traditional outreach.  I will hold quarterly town hall style meetings (in person, with a zoom option). I will also use social media to disseminate important information regarding municipal government and services.

Through my 3 year long work as a volunteer with the Council on Aging, I am especially mindful of senior issues and the struggles that seniors are having in regards to housing.

"I come back to what I had said earlier: the policies might be there but are people benefiting from the policies? You do find that in many instances, though the policies exist, they are not having the necessary impact. That is a particular challenge in local government, because that is where all the services get delivered." ~ Thabo Mbeki
